Derrek Kupish is a 2x Emmy-winning creative executive and 2026 Nashville Business Journal 40 Under 40 honoree with more than 15 years of experience shaping brands, storytelling, and careers across the music, television, and entertainment industries. Known for his sharp creative vision and strategic approach to artist development, Derrek specializes in building culturally resonant brands that connect deeply with audiences and stand the test of time.
Based in Nashville with a growing national presence spanning Los Angeles, New York City, and beyond, Derrek has become recognized for blending cinematic storytelling, digital strategy, creative direction, and artist management into one cohesive creative force.
As Creative Director and co-manager for Billy Ray Cyrus, Derrek helps lead the revitalization of the multi-platinum entertainer’s brand, music releases, live shows, creative campaigns, and overall public image.
Among Derrek’s most notable achievements was his creative involvement behind the global smash hit “Old Town Road” remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X. The record became a cultural phenomenon and the longest-running No. 1 song in Billboard Hot 100 history. Derrek contributed to the visual storytelling, branding, and marketing efforts that helped propel the project into pop culture history.
In television, Derrek serves as Associate Producer and Video Director for the hit reality series Honky Tonk Ranch starring The Bellamy Brothers, airing on the Circle Country network and streaming on Peacock.
A recipient of the Young Entertainment Professionals (YEP) “Most Creative Eye” Award in 2022, Derrek’s portfolio spans music videos, television productions, album artwork, live event visuals, social media campaigns, artist development, and strategic brand partnerships. His ability to merge creativity with long-term vision has made him a trusted collaborator among artists, executives, and entertainment brands alike.
Beyond entertainment, Derrek is passionate about philanthropy and community impact. As a board member for Band As One Nashville in partnership with Susan G. Komen, he helps support charitable initiatives benefiting breast cancer awareness — a mission deeply personal to him after losing his grandmother to the disease.
When he’s not developing creative campaigns or managing artists, Derrek enjoys traveling, discovering new restaurants, spending time outdoors, and spending time with his Goldendoodle, AppleJax.
